The Pacific Northwest Quilt & Fiber Arts Museum has issued a Call for Entries for the 2018 Quilt & Fiber Arts Festival. This juried and judged (optional) exhibit is open to all national and international quilters and fiber artists. The Call for Entries is open now and closes on July 28, 2018. Festival exhibit dates are October 12 – 14, 2018.
There have been several changes to the Festival this year, including moving to a new location, the Edward D. Hansen Conference Center in Everett. This larger, more accessible facility with greater amenities, allows all classes, activities, and exhibits to be offered in one venue. There are many places surrounding the Center to both eat and to stay overnight, making this a great location to enjoy this three-day event.
Entry guidelines and categories have been updated to represent the changes observed in the quilting and fiber arts community. The new categories are simple and easy to follow, with a much broader range of Fiber Art categories to enter in. The Festival is also using a new online submission process, ArtCall.org. This system better helps manage the submission process and offers entrants clear, easy-to-follow instructions on how to submit your entry.
And finally, because the Museum encourages all levels of skills to enter, welcoming beginners to experienced artists, entrants can now choose to “opt out” of the judging portion. Really great artists have said they do not enter because they "aren't good enough to be judged" or "too new." Although all entries must still be juried in – a painless process – the ability to ‘opt out’ will hopefully motivate many more artists to participate! Enter your traditional quilts, your pictorial or modern quilts, dolls, hand-knit or hand-woven items, wearable art, and more! Be a part of this truly unique Festival in the Pacific Northwest.
